I recently went on a hike with a friend. After trekking up the mountain, we came to a place that looked like the end of the trail. It was a bit of a let down as the views were nothing like we envisioned.
I quickly began to rationalize the experience: “The end wasn’t that great, but at least it was a fun journey up!”
All the while, buried among the brush was a small sign that said, “views ahead”. We set out on the narrow, little path and the results were stunning… even more so than we imagined.
In that moment, I wondered: How many times have I stopped shy of great things because of the obvious, safe options right in front of me?
Don’t settle, my friends. There are better views ahead, and you don’t want to miss them. They are usually the hardest to get to, and the most fulfilling to see.
They are worthy of the climb. And so are you.
Your friend,
J.
